Diwali 2025

High Grange School celebrate Diwali

High Grange School enjoyed celebrating Diwali in school this week. This house event allowed all our students the opportunity to celebrate one of the most important festivals in Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. Monday 20th October was Diwali, the ‘festival of light’ and to celebrate we put on an afternoon of activities and experiences. The students were encouraged to participate in 3 different activities within their house groups. The students experienced colouring and making Rangoli patterns, the intricate patterns are traditionally made using coloured sand, the students created their own patterns using coloured rice. To celebrate the triumph of light over darkness the students used their creativity to make a firework display using PE equipment. The last activity saw the students making lanterns using a variety of different craft material to signify lighting the path of Prince Rama to his kingdom. Finally, our food technology department brought in some traditional food eaten to celebrate Diwali which all the students enjoyed tasting. This house event was very well supported and the students enjoyed engaging in all the different activities on offer and the creativity shown by our students was exceptional.

I would like to thank all staff who helped support our young people throughout the event and to Beth, Reena, Emily, Ethan and Annie who organised, led and hosted activities. Happy Diwali everyone.
