High Grange running in the rain.

Last night (12th June) staff and students from across High Grange School took part in the annual two- mile relay at the Staffordshire County Showground. It was our third year of participating in this event, with a record number of participants!

High Grange School always look to support this event as it is a fantastic opportunity for our students to participate in acommunity setting.

With rain forecasted and the continuous downpour, it was going to be difficult for our students, but they overcame the weather to finish smiling and all students should be very proud of themselves and their achievements. Running with over 1000 runners and a few spectators the students did amazingly well.

There are several highlights from the event from our very young students in Lower 1 and 2 to our older students crossing the line and closing the event. Special mention must go to our Post 16 student L who helped all over students out on the course and the support this young man gave was outstanding. Z showed true determination to finish in what turned to horrendous conditions with mud covering the course. Our newest students F and G also showed true character completing two miles and wearing their medals with pride.

Lower Two students W and T set the teams on their way running fantastically and overcoming the challenge the weather faced us with E completed the Lower School team. Our older students, B, K and B all ran around and enjoyed the event, representing the school in an excellent manner and should also be very proud. Finally, T came along to support and was an official photographer- he was brilliant.

I would like to thank all our staff for supporting the event and giving up their time to support the students’ achievements. I would also like to thank our students’ parents and guardians for the support they showed either picking their children up late at night or coming along to support the event. Without this support the event could not have taken place.

We hope to get pictures for the event on our website and social media before the end of play Friday.

Thank you for all support shown
