Subject of the week, from our Maths Teacher Alan Beeson
First of all, I would like to congratulate all of the students who sat the mock exams this term. 15 students took part in the Maths GCSE mock exam, most of whom achieved above expected grades. Well done to you all and keep up the hard work!
Over the last 4 years, most of our students have achieved a pass at GCSE level in Maths if they’ve been entered. It is the subject with the most number of entrants at High Grange. Some students have gone on to study AS and A-level Maths at college and we have several who have the potential to study Maths further and gain higher qualifications.
Many key stage 4 students have passed Entry Level Maths during their transition from key stage 3 to 4, this has also enabled some students to progress on to study GCSE Maths.
Every student that is studying GCSE Maths has a shiny new revision book to use at home. It covers everything that may come up in the exam and students are encouraged to revise in preparation for their exams in the summer. The revision book contains some practice questions for them to complete and a code for some interactive and online questions.
Students are studying Edexcel GCSE 9-1, either foundation or higher level. This half terms topic is circle theorems.
